Winter X’d Out

It’s two days after the 2011 Winter X Games, and I’m already feeling withdrawals from a lack of truffle fries/dance parties/bluebird days/midday mountain laps/trailer writing sessions/friends I don’t see nearly enough. But it’s warm and sunny here in Santa Monica and I’m happy to be home writing (in my pajamas) from the comfort of my own desk–at least for the next 24 hours.

This year, we experienced the best Winter X weather Aspen’s seen in the eight years I’ve been covering the event. Bluebird skies every day, temps in the mid-40s that dropped only to the 20s at night, and no snow days until Monday, the day after the event. Everything ran smoothly, was a lot of fun and a heck of a lot of work. The last week of January is still, without a doubt, one of my favorite weeks of the year.

If you didn’t have time to check the Games out for yourself (say, you were grounded — You know who you are!) you can recap all the action via my stories from the past week. I included them below the photo. Because Winter X is certainly not all play.

HANG ON, TRICIA. I NEED A QUICK NAP …
